Cortez (625 West 156th Street), as seen from the plaza of Audubon Terrace
The Cortez’s entrance  is particularly interesting, with pairs of engaged, fluted Corinthian columns flanking an arched doorway surmounted by a cornice.  The columns rising through the two-story base expand the one-story doors into a grander entrance, by linking them with the windows above.  Pairs of iron balconies on the second and fourth floors pull the eye upward to the single balcony on the seventh floor and then further to the double row of dentils beneath parapet of cartouches and coping stones.
